Major Projects in Progress

Construction on a new multi-purpose arena, which includes a food court, academic areas and the basketball facility, began in spring 2014, with the opening expected during the first quarter of 2016. Learn more.
A new $15-16 million addition and new facility in the area of Coulter Hall will create state-of-the-art research space and an auditorium for the university’s growing population. Learn more.
On March 7, 2014, the university broke ground on a $6.3 million renovation and addition to the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. Learn more.

On Feb. 24, 2014, work began on construction of roundabouts at the Old Taylor Road/Highway 6 bridge as well as on widening the bridge. When finished, the widened bridge will include a pedestrian walkway and a roundabout on each end, similar to those on South Lamar Avenue. Learn more.
Over winter break 2013, the university broke ground on our new 829-spot, five-story parking garage, located where the northernmost football practice field currently sits, on the west side of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The garage is slated to open in fall 2014. Learn more.
The School of Pharmacy is constructing Phase II of its Thad Cochran Research Center, which will nearly double the school’s available research space. Phase II is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. Learn more.
